Frequently Asked Questions

Your time is valuable, as is your peace of mind. A trained professional organizer will assess your needs and develop a plan to make your home the serene space you deserve.

Benefits of hiring a trained professional organizer include:

  • No judgement; private and confidential
  • Reliability, experience and professionalism
  • Liability insurance

A trained professional organizer

  • is part of a local and national network of trained professionals who share their expertise and resources.
  • is committed to staying current and to continued training to expand their knowledge and skills.
  • adheres to a professional Code of Ethics (Professional Organizers in Canada).

You can trust a trained professional organizer in your home.

Serene Space Toronto's primary organizer, Mardie Serenity, is a Trained Professional Organizer and a member in good standing of the Professional Organizers in Canada with many years of experience.  She is a former Chair of the Professional Organizers in Canada Toronto Community Group.

Serene Space Toronto is a top professional organizer in the Toronto, ON professional organizers directory on FindMyOrganizer.com.

A professional project manager as well as non-judgemental home organizer, Mardie's experience includes organizing:

  • active living spaces such as bedrooms, living rooms & dens, kitchens, pantries, nurseries and bathrooms
  • storage spaces (closets, basements, garages, attics, sheds)
  • home offices, small businesses and non-profits

Other experience includes assisting seniors and others with downsizing to move to smaller spaces, setting up spaces for new babies, repurposing existing rooms, packing for moves and unpacking at new locations, vacation packing, setting up filing systems and longer term supportive decluttering with individuals experiencing chronic disorganization.

Serene Space Toronto is fully ensured.

We start with a phone conversation, to talk about what kind of support you are looking for. I may ask to see pictures of your home. An in-person assessment may be arranged, but is not always needed.

After the initial call, if you are ready to work with me, we will set up a first session, usually 3 to 4 hours in length. During that first session I will provide some recommendations, and we will decide together how to proceed. Then we will dive in to the process.

In most cases, I work side-by-side with my client, supporting and guiding them as we declutter and organize together. This process involves going at the client's pace, including respecting their need to reflect (when desired) in order to make the right decision.

Some clients prefer to be less involved, only making key top-level decisions at specific points in this process. This streamlined approach involves less client time, and is generally faster, but does require a willingness by the client to entrust the organizer to make the majority of decisions independently.

Further sessions, as needed, are scheduled at your convenience.

The initial phone consultation is free. A fee applies if an on-site consultation is required. All further services are charged on an hourly basis, with additional charges for travel outside of the GTA, shopping, etc. HST is applicable for all charges. Regular clients receive one free service hour for every 10 paid hours. See the Pricing page for more information.

Gift certificates are available (see FAQ below).

Serene Space Toronto distributes donations to a number of organizations, depending on the type and quantity of items.  Some examples include: the Toronto Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity (ReStore), Pegasus (supporting adults with developmental disabilities), and Double Take (supporting the Yonge Street Mission).

Serene Space Toronto provides a professional and confidential service. That means that we will not discuss you, your home or our work with you with anyone without your permission. We will not judge you, share stories or mis-use your trust.
